Your files stay on your device. This page covers the small amount we do hold: your account, what you bought, and how to get it removed.

Who we are

DotWild is run by DotWild Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, at 6 Marine Crescent, DY8 4XH, United Kingdom. DotWild Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here. Email hello@dotwild.app with any question about it.

Your files

DotWild's tools run in your web browser or in the desktop app. A file you open is read, changed and saved on your own computer. It is never sent to us.

The same goes for everything that comes from a file: its name, the folder it came from, page thumbnails, text read out of it, signatures you draw or type, and the files you save. None of it reaches our servers, and none of it is given to an AI model.

What is kept on your device

Some things are stored in your browser, or in the desktop app, so the tools work the way you left them. They stay on that device, and clearing the site's data removes them.

  • Your colour theme, and whether you have closed a notice on this website.
  • How many of your three free exports you have used in that browser.
  • Your sign-in, so you do not have to sign in on every visit.
  • A copy of which modules you can use, so the tools open when you are offline.
  • Layout choices, such as a hidden side panel, and the last tool you used.
  • Charts & Diagrams keeps work in progress as you go, so you can pick it up later. You can turn this off in the tool, and delete saved work one piece at a time or all at once.
  • Fill & Sign keeps a signature only when you choose to save one, and you can delete it there.

Your account

You only need an account to buy a module or to use the desktop app. For an account we hold:

  • your email address, which you sign in with using a one-time code;
  • which modules you can use, and until when;
  • records of signing in to the desktop app, stored in a form that cannot be used to sign in;
  • security logs kept by our hosting providers, which include IP addresses and are deleted after a short time.

If you email us, we keep the email and our reply so we can help you.

Payments

Payments are taken by Stripe. Stripe collects your card or bank details, your name, email address and billing address, and uses them to take the payment and to prevent fraud. We never see your full card number or your bank login.

From Stripe we receive what you bought, the price, the date, whether the payment went through, and a reference that links the payment to your account. For card payments Stripe also shows us the card type and its last four digits. Stripe's own privacy notice is at stripe.com/gb/privacy.

Who processes data for us

  • Supabase runs the account database and sign-in. The database is in the European Union, in Frankfurt.
  • Resend sends the sign-in code emails, from the European Union.
  • Stripe takes payments and sends receipts.
  • Hostinger hosts this website and the web app.

These companies may sometimes handle data outside the UK, for example for support or security. Where they do, the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations or the UK's standard data transfer agreements.

Why we use it

  • To provide your account and the modules you bought, because that is our contract with you.
  • To keep accounts secure, prevent fraud and answer your emails, which is in our legitimate interests and yours.
  • To keep sales records for the tax authorities, because the law requires it.

We do not sell your data, show advertising, or send marketing emails.

How long we keep it

Your account stays until you ask us to delete it. Records of what you bought are kept for six years after the end of the financial year of the sale, as UK tax law requires, even if the account is deleted. Emails are kept while we help you and for up to two years after. Security logs are kept for a short time and then deleted.

Cookies and analytics

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. The web app stores your sign-in in the browser, which is needed for signing in to work, and runs no analytics either.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, ask us to limit how we use it, object to its use, or ask for it in a form you can take elsewhere. Email hello@dotwild.app from the address on your account. We reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Changes to this page

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and its date. If the change affects what we hold about you, we will email you before it takes effect.
